I’m Heather the mom of an amazing little boy named Ja’Kai. We are from Oregon. Ja’Kai was diagnosed shortly after turning 6 years old. At the time of his dx his glucose was 1000 and his A1C read greater than 15.5 yet he was sent home that day!! Flash forward Ja’Kai is a multi talented athlete. Ja’Kai is currently playing his 3rd year of year round competitive soccer on the A team, he plays tackle football and club basketball. Ja’Kai designed a shoe with Nike for the Dorenbechers Freestyle to raise money for OHSU Children’s Hospital (His shoe sold for $11,000) and then sold world wide, it featured T1D and soccer) Ja’Kai locked to promote type one diabetes on our social media platforms.
